Read Gate Mag 60

The new issue of Gate Magazine is now available – the bilingual free press magazine distributed in Rome’s airports and the Duty Free shops of Milan airports – Malpensa and Linate – as well as Bergamo, Treviso, Venice, Bologna and Naples. You can also read it online at this link.

In our Italia Slow Tour column we present the first of the five travel stories that jointly won the Per Caso TV Literary Prize, which concluded in January. The author is Rossana Cilli, who takes us to Ostia, where the ladies staying at the Madonna della Salve Institute in Rome spend a special day – beyond what they believed was still possible for them.
“Time may well be a gentleman. But with them, without much gallantry, time had taken a great deal away: youth, home, strength and health; from some, a husband, and even a child.
It had also taken away the chance to see the sea up close again. None of them believed they ever would.”

This March issue is all about the arrival of spring, the time of year when everything seems to start moving again. The air changes, the days grow longer, and an almost instinctive desire arises to go out, explore, and set off on a journey.
Gate 60 is driven by that same spirit: “Through new routes, inspiring destinations, culinary discoveries and wellness ideas for wellbeing, each page aims to spark curiosity and encourage the simple pleasure of setting off – even if only thorugh your imagination.”

The destinations explored include Friuli Venezia Giulia, a region that often lies outside the most crowded tourist routes yet holds a surprising variety of landscapes and cultures. The Canary Islands, where the prevailing feeling is that of an eternal spring, but which can also surprise those looking for much more than a simple seaside holiday. Kenya, another country that amazes with its diversity of landscapes and atmospheres, shifting between unspoiled nature and lively urban centers. And finally Puerto Plata, a gateway to tourism in the Dominican Republic.

As always, there is also space for fashion, with features dedicated to the brands Federica Bonifaci, Frank Jeans, Stone Island and Beyliss.

You will also find a review by Enza Pietrangelo of Wuthering Heights, directed by Academy Award–winning filmmaker Emerald Fennell, as well as a portrait of the painter Paola Zannoni.

From Rome to Milan, a selection of events and exhibitions opening now and continuing over the coming months.

There are also tips on how to take care of your body and your skin, along with beauty product recommendations, since March is the perfect month to refresh your beauty routine.

Two in-depth features follow: Wellness Before Summer: The Most Original Treatments to Try in Italy and Spring Anxiety and Mindfulness.

Updates from Italian airports, and a special focus on Rome, with two articles: Roman Spring, when the city blooms again and Rome Street Food, Four New Spots to Try.

And if you think that’s all, you’re mistaken. There is still so much more to discover in this issue of Gate Magazine.

Enjoy the read!
